CATHOLIC EDUCATION FOUNDATION TO HOST 18th ANNUAL SALUTE TO THE GAME LUNCHEON
Saint Xavier – Trinity Football Showdown in its 93rd Edition
LPX Group to Serve as Lead Event Sponsor with $40,000 Investment
Foundation Aims to Set All-Time Fundraising Record
(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) – In celebration of the nationally recognized rivalry and thrill of the annual Saint Xavier – Trinity high school football game, the Catholic Education Foundation will host its 18th annual Salute to THE GAME luncheon at noon on Thursday, September 25, in the Grand Ballroom of the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville.
The luncheon has become a hallmark event for the community and one of the largest of its kind in the Commonwealth, raising over $5.5 million in support of Catholic education in central Kentucky in only 17 years. Last year, the event netted an astounding all-time record $650,000. The 93rd edition of the St. X – Trinity football showdown will take place on Friday, September 26 at Cardinal Stadium at 8:00 p.m.
Foundation President Rich Lechleiter remarked, “We are so thankful to both the Saint Xavier and Trinity communities for allowing the Catholic Education Foundation to further its mission through the Salute luncheon event. We invite everyone to mark your calendar for this exciting event that showcases two of our outstanding Catholic schools and their storied football rivalry. Come aboard and join the fun!”
Foundation Vice President Julie Baum noted, “Since our beginning in 2008, I’ve been amazed by the level of community support for this great event! Who would have ever dreamed that a luncheon could create so much opportunity for families who want their children to attend a Catholic school but can’t afford to do so? What a blessing for all of them!”
Foundation Board Chair Joe Landenwich added, “I want to give special thanks to Hunter Strickler and all our friends at LPX Group for their enormous investment of $40,000 as Lead Sponsor of the event! What an inspiration you are for families in need who want the incomparable gift of a Catholic education for their children!”
Local radio and television personality, Tony Vanetti, will serve as the master of ceremonies at the event. The luncheon will feature a star player from each school – Karsten Busch from Saint Xavier and Nate Shields from Trinity.
To add to the fun and excitement of the luncheon, University of Louisville Men’s Head Basketball Coach Pat Kelsey, a Catholic school graduate, will provide some remarks at the outset of the event.
Sponsorship opportunities and individual tickets are available. For more information on this event or to learn more about the Catholic Education Foundation, visit our website at www.ceflou.org or call (502) 585-2747.
