The Daniel C. Ulmer family, long-time supporters of Catholic school teachers in the Archdiocese of Louisville, recently initiated a new award entitled “The Catholic Education Foundation Innovation Award.”
The award recognizes Catholic elementary teachers in central Kentucky whose innovation and creativity have inspired their students to achieve outstanding academic success. At the annual Mass held on August 11 at St. Margaret Mary Church in celebration of the new school year, Mr. Ulmer and his son, Gary, joined Archbishop Kurtz and Foundation President Rich Lechleiter in presenting this prestigious award to five accomplished instructors. Each recipient received a cash award of $2,500.
The inaugural honorees were: Diane Nauert of Notre Dame Academy; Joseph Reed of St. Leonard School; Dana Bale of St. Martha School; Margaret McKune of St. Aloysius School; and Jessica Robinson of St. Nicholas Academy.
Mr. Ulmer commented, “I’m thrilled to continue to support our Catholic school teachers and recognize their exceptional work that they do every day with their young students! I don’t think we can ever do enough to thank them for their amazing devotion to all of our kids.”
