In only its ninth year, the annual Salute to THE GAME luncheon held on September 28 set a new record for funds raised in support of the Foundation’s mission to support the growth and vitality of Catholic education across central Kentucky. Hosting a sell-out crowd at the Grand Ballroom of the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville, this unique celebration of the storied Saint Xavier – Trinity football rivalry netted an astonishing $330,000, surpassing last year’s previous mark of $260,000. The event featured special guest Coach Howard Schnellenberger, a Louisville native who attended Catholic elementary schools and graduated from Flaget High School in 1952. Following his remarks at the event, he was met with a standing ovation in appreciation for his many lifetime accomplishments and contributions to the Louisville community.
The major benefactors of this year’s Salute luncheon, each of whom donated $25,000 to the event, were: John and Sarah Lechleiter; the Steve and Kathy Ford Family; the Daniel C. Ulmer Family; Wimsett and Company; Paul and Maureen Lechleiter; and the Richard and Janice Lechleiter Family.
